Pillars of Light

Our Pillars of Light were built on the voices of those who know KLSD best: our families, students, educators, and neighbors. This vision is a shared achievement, guided by the leadership of Dr. Blanch, crafted through thoughtful collaboration to ensure our collective values and dreams for the next generation are realized. We are profoundly grateful for your partnership in shaping a bright, inclusive future for every learner.

These six pillars guide the work of the KLSD Board of Education. They reflect our promise to build a culture of belonging and success for every student. By listening to our community, we’ve created a roadmap to keep our schools places where all children feel seen, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

As we visit classrooms, attend performances and games, and speak with students and staff, we see these pillars in action every day. Below are some of the steps we’ve taken to support this work as well as why I feel each pillar is so important.

PILLAR ONE

Knowledge and Skills

Strong Public Schools means giving every student the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in college, career, and life. We use clear learning goals, strong curriculum, and meaningful data to guide instruction in every school. These efforts are already showing results in student achievement and opportunities.
